Meet the team at the clinic

We're a small team here at Caryn Zinn Nutrition (based at FlexaClinic in Northcote, Auckland); we’re a group of whole-food, integrative dietitians and nutritionists that are full of passion about what we do and practice what we preach. We aim to help our clients achieve their goals through providing a personalised and honest service. Because you come with your own unique set of demographics, genetic and metabolic traits, and diverse lifestyle situations, we believe that you deserve your own set of nutrition strategies that suits your (and your family’s) needs. We don’t believe in a one size fits all approach, but we do believe in basing your style of eating on whole, unprocessed, minimally packaged food as much as possible. Our consultations and advice reflect this personalised and whole-food approach.

Caryn Zinn - Dietitian

I am the director of Caryn Zinn Nutrition, and I've been running a nutrition consultancy business for almost 21 years. It's only been the last almost 5 years that my work has focused on a whole-food lifestyle and more holistic, integrative approach to both health and wellbeing, and sports performance. The results that I've been getting with my clients are incredible! To find out more about me, check out the ABOUT tab.

Because things tend to get very busy very quickly these days, I have a great team of nutrition consultants who work with me. These smart young ladies are equally as passionate as I am about whole food nutrition and health.

Kimberley Bell - Nutritionist

I have always been passionate about food and nutrition which led me to completing my Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from Massey University. However, I quickly became frustrated and confused with conventional wisdom, which included a real lack of attention to the importance of wholefoods, and I began to notice that the science and the guidelines being taught did not match up.

At this time I was following a whole-food, LCHF way of eating out of choice as this was the way of eating that enabled me to maintain a healthy weight year round, support my lifestyle activities, feel satiated while eating food I loved, as well as enjoying social occasions. In my consultancy with I have seen first-hand the benefits of a wholefood/LCHF way of eating in a wide range of clients including endurance athletes, elderly, adolescent girls, families and children, and others. I’m now more convinced than ever that this whole-food way is the future of “best practice” nutrition. Feel free to check out my website Kimberley Bell Nutrition

Sylvia North - Dietitian

I’m a NZ Registered Dietitian with a love for all things health and wellness.  I have two degrees from Massey University: a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (first class honours) and a Bachelor in Nutrition and Physiology. I’m also a Qigong teacher with a certification in the Ba duan Jin  exercises from Forest Rock Monastery. The way we eat and how we live are key to building a healthy body. My approach builds on this core foundation using real food and real life strategies. Understanding all bodies are very complicated and unique, I have a special interest in working out an individual approach to using food as a powerful tool for drawing you closer to your goals.

I came to approach whole food and holistic living in my early twenties. As an A-type university student and perfectionist, I encountered an inner battle where I could never be thin enough, exercise enough, ‘liked’ enough, study enough, and my grades could never be perfect enough. I developed chronic fatigue, digestive problems, loneliness, symptomatic hypothyroid, and for three years stopped menstruating, but still had severe PMT.

I found myself questioning conventional nutrition advice where no level of calorie or fat restriction and eating to ‘perfection’ could bring me the vitality that the food pyramid had promised. I’ve learnt in my journey that food is not only chemistry comprising of nutrients and energy, but is also information to our bodies letting it know if the environment we’re living in is safe. To me, whole food means to embrace food in its most natural form and becoming in tune with the innate wisdom that your body really wants and needs to thrive.
